What is cybercrime? Give an example.

Cybercrime is any illegal activity carried out through the use of computer systems or the Internet. It includes various forms of criminal activities such as hacking, identity theft, online fraud, malware distribution and unauthorized access to confidential information. Cybercrime poses a serious threat to individuals, organizations and even governments as it can result in financial loss, invasion of privacy and disruption of critical systems.

For example,
one-time password crime or one-time passwords are a specific type of cybercrime in which criminals use one-time passwords to gain unauthorized access to personal accounts or confidential information. These can include techniques such as phishing, where people are tricked into revealing their OTPs, or SIM swapping, where criminals control a person’s phone number to capture OTPs. These crimes highlight the importance of protecting personal information and being alert to potential threats in the digital world.
